Our Campaign Story

Be Our Champion for Humanity is Singapore Red Cross’ year-long fundraising campaign dedicated to amplifying our impact where it’s needed most. Every gift goes towards supporting our work for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, empowering persons with disabilities, caring for seniors living alone, reaching out to families-in-need and supporting those who fall through the cracks of social services.

This year's theme — Championing Humanity, Empowering Communities — hopes to reflect on how far we have come while celebrating Singapore’s 60 years of independence and look ahead with the purpose to build a stronger community by coming together.

— Vicky's Story —

At just 17 days old, Vicky was diagnosed with hydrocephalus — and doctors warned his mother, Mdm Punitha, that he wouldn’t live a fulfilling life. But she never gave up on him. After years of care and schooling, she eventually found the Singapore Red Cross Day Activity Centre for the Disabled, where Vicky enrolled at the age of 38. Since then, he has grown more independent and confident, picking up hobbies like gardening, crafts, and even basketball. Through the DAC, he’s not only gained life skills and friendships, but also a strong sense of belonging — his cheerful, friendly nature has become a bright spot for everyone around him.

— Shafira's Story —

10-year-old Shafira* lives with her family in a one-room rental flat and has been part of the Young Hearts programme since 2022. With support from dedicated tutors and volunteers, she’s grown in confidence both academically and emotionally — especially in subjects she used to struggle with like Maths. The Young Hearts Centre has become a safe and nurturing space for her to learn, grow, and even take on leadership roles during outings. Inspired by her tutors and her mum who taught her how to cook, Shafira now dreams of becoming both a chef and a teacher — someone who can uplift others, just like how others have done for her.
